第４文型【SVOO】を作る動詞

第４文型【SVOO】は、動詞 (V) + 人名や目的格の人称代名詞 (O1) + 目的物 (O2) 。動詞の後ろに目的語 (すなわち名詞) が二つ並ぶ型です。

動詞 (V) の後ろに (O1)を置かず (O2) を続ければ、第４文型を第３文型【SVO】に変型させることができます。この場合、(O1)は前置詞を伴って修飾語 (M) となりますが、動詞 (V) によって前置詞 “to・for・of” を使い分けます。

tell, give, send, hand, feed, find, lend, offers, pay, promise, sell, show, teach など、いわゆる「授与動詞」が間接目的語を取りますが、数自体はそう多くはありません。

bring　（人）に〜を持って来る
He brought me today’s newspaper.　⇒ He brought today’s newspaper to me.

give （人）に〜を与える
I gave her a watch.　⇒ I gave a watch to her.

show （人）に〜を見せる
The attendant showed me the map.　⇒ The attendant showed the map to me.

teach （人）に〜を教える
She teaches us physics every Thursday.　⇒ She teaches physics to us every Thursday.

tell （人）に〜を話す
My best friend told me a secret.　⇒ My best friend told a secret to me.

Our accounting department will tell you how to open an account. / 経理課で口座の作り方を教えてくれます。( 間接目的語が名詞節になっています。)

write （人）に（手紙）を書く

My son wrote me a letter last month.　⇒ My son wrote a letter to me last month.

hand （人）に〜を手渡す
She handed him the car key.　⇒ She handed the car key to him.

lend （人）に〜を貸す
They lent her a lot of money.　⇒ They lent a lot of money to her.

offer （人）に〜を提供する
The company offered him a nice job.　⇒ The company offered a nice job to him.

owe （人）に（金）を借りている
He owes me three hundred dollars for his plane ticket.　⇒ He owes three hundred dollars to me for his plane ticket.

pass （人）に〜を手渡す
The receptionist passed me a pen.　⇒ The receptionist passed a pen to me.

pay （人）に（代金）を払う
She hasn’t paid the landlord the rent for this month.　⇒ She hasn’t paid the rent for this month to the landlord.

read （人）に〜を読んで聞かせる
I will read you a bedtime story tonight.　⇒ I will read a bedtime story to you tonight.

sell （人）に〜を売る
She will sell you her watch.　⇒ She will sell her watch to you.

send （人）に〜を送る
They sent us a catalogue.　⇒ They sent a catalogue to us.

throw （人）に〜を投げる
She threw me a towel.　⇒ She threw a towel to me.

wish （人）に〜を祈る
We wish you good luck.　⇒ We wish good luck to you.

Mary made him a cup of coffee during the break.　⇒Mary made a cup of coffee for him during the break.

buy （人）に〜を買ってやる
John bought her some flowers.　⇒John bought some flowers for her.

cook （人）に〜を料理する
The chef cooked us a wonderful meal.　⇒The chef cooked a wonderful meal for us.

find （人）に〜を見つけてやる
He found us a taxi.　⇒He found a taxi for us.

get （人）に〜を手に入れてやる
Her father got her a brand-new camera.　⇒Her father got a brand-new camera for her.

order （人）に〜を注文してやる
He ordered me a new suit from his favorite tailor.　⇒He ordered a new suit for me from his favorite tailor.

sing （人）に（歌）を歌って聞かせる
She sang the guests some songs.　⇒She sang some songs for the guests.

fetch （人）に〜を取って来る
Shall I fetch you a blanket?　⇒Shall I fetch a blanket for you?

ask （人）に〜を尋ねる
She asked me a question.　⇒She asked a question of me.
