withのイメージ

「一緒に」と訳される with ですが、語源は wide と同じであり、「幅のある中で対立するもの同士が近寄って生まれる関係」がそのイメージです。その結果として「近接・支配・所有・対立」の関係が生まれるといえます。そしてその関係には「同時性」があります。

ですから上記のように、自分の支配下に置いてコントロールできる「道具」を使う場合は、by ではなくwith を使うことになります。

war with France, fight with my brother は、「一緒に」ではなく「対立」の概念で、「～と戦った」となります。

I have no money with me. は近接性と同時性の概念から「(今は)持ち合わせがない」の意味になります。
